Join Our School Family

St Richard's Catholic Primary School is a welcoming, vibrant and faith-filled community, committed to providing an excellent education rooted in Gospel values. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Class Teacher to join our supportive and hardworking team on a temporary maternity cover contract.

The successful candidate will teach a mixed Year 3/4 class from April 2027 until December 2027.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a successful and happy school where every child is known, valued and nurtured to reach their full potential academically, socially and spiritually.

About Us

St Richard's is a proud Catholic school where our faith is at the heart of everything we do. We are part of the Bosco Catholic Education Trust, a family of schools working collaboratively to share expertise, support one another and provide high-quality professional development opportunities.

We work closely with the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton to ensure strong spiritual leadership and support for our Catholic life and mission.

Our school is known for its:

  • Warm, inclusive and supportive community
  • Strong Catholic ethos and values
  • Commitment to teamwork and staff wellbeing
  • Engaged and enthusiastic pupils who enjoy learning
  • High expectations for behaviour and achievement
  • Positive relationships between staff, pupils and families

We are a small, successful and happy school, combining a caring Catholic ethos with enthusiastic learners. Behaviour is strong due to our commitment to high expectations and a positive approach to learning.

At St Richard's, we take Jesus Christ as the centre of all that we do: to know, to love and to serve. Our Catholic faith underpins school life and shapes the experiences we provide for our children every day.

This role would suit a teacher who is passionate about making a real impact in the classroom and contributing to the wider life of our school. You will work in a warm, friendly and supportive environment where every member of staff plays an essential role in helping our children to know, love and serve God, one another and the wider community.

The Role

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is passionate about teaching and learning
  • Has high expectations for all pupils
  • Creates a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
  • Works effectively as part of a team
  • Is committed to helping every child achieve their full potential
  • Supports and promotes the Catholic ethos of the school
  • Wishes to contribute to the wider life of the school community

Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

We provide a strong programme of induction, mentoring and professional development through both the Bosco Catholic Education Trust and the Diocese.

Do I Have to Be Catholic?

No.

Our Catholic faith is what makes St Richard's such a special place to work and learn, but we warmly welcome applications from candidates of all faiths and none who are supportive of our values and ethos.

Only certain leadership positions within Catholic schools require practising Catholic applicants. This teaching post is open to all suitably qualified candidates.

We Offer

  • A friendly, supportive and dedicated staff team
  • Well-behaved, motivated children who are eager to learn
  • A strong sense of community
  • A leadership team committed to staff development and wellbeing
  • High-quality professional development through Bosco Catholic Education Trust
  • Excellent support and mentoring for ECTs
  • Employee Wellbeing and Assistance Programme
  • Topic-focused staff meetings
  • Extensive staff benefits through Bosco Catholic Education Trust
  • Well-equipped classrooms and technology
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • On-site parking
  • Opportunities for career progression within the Trust
